THE STARS

Look far into the sky at night
At myriad points of distant light,
Stars in a velvet dark blue sky,
Like scintillating jewels on high.

Strange, ineffable, awesome sight,
Moving in celestial flight,
These coloured gems afloat in space
Were here before the human race.

They trace their orbit constantly
How can this phenomenon be?
Who put them there, who made the starts
And planets Jupiter and mars?

Perhaps I'll never learn the truth
Of this stellar Show viewed from Earth.
From questioning I'll now desist
And thank my God that they exist.
