Friendship
(two poems in the traditional form of a lai)
Summer with great skill
hearts in friendship will
combine,
when winter winds blow,
two hearts still aglow
entwine.
Roses now I send
to my dearest friend
anew,
for you're always there
a friend true and rare,
thank you.
