A Sonnet To The Seasons

As fading leaves fall swiftly to the ground,

and wisps of bonfire scent the evening air,

rich colours of the season still abound,

dressing the world with fiery autumn flare.

Surreptitiously cold winds soon edge in,

moaning loudly throughout each day and night,

but winter beauty, lying deep within,

transforms earth to a wonderland of white.

Then spring arrives with faithful constancy,

her early flowers cheer the world again,

and bluebells swamp the woods like bluest sea,

soon summer will supremacy regain.

Each season has a purpose quite unique,

beauty filled with magical mystique.
